Graduation Requirements
In pursuit of its mission to ensure that all students reach their learning potential and are prepared for postsecondary and career opportunities, the Board of Education has established graduation requirements that are outlined in policy IKF-2. This policy states that in order for a student to receive a high school diploma from the district, students must meet or exceed the district's academic standards and measures required by this policy. Students with disabilities must be provided access to all graduation pathways provided by this policy and must have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma from the district. Students with disabilities that complete the requirements and goals, as listed on a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), (which may include modified academic standards), can be utilized to create a needed pathway to earn a high school diploma. Policy IKF-2-R-'26 details the class credits and capstone project requirements for Salida School District students to earn their high school diploma.

Concurrent Enrollment
Concurrent Enrollment Programs Act (CEPA) is a program by the state of Colorado that allows high school students to take credit bearing college classes that also satisfy high school graduation requirements. Salida Schools partners with CMC Salida (Colorado Mountain College) to provide concurrent enrollment opportunities for district students. Internships
Students at Salida Schools have the opportunity to pursue internships with local professionals coordinated through the partnership with CMC Salida.

Ascent
Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment (ASCENT) is a fifth-year high school program that allows students to participate in concurrent enrollment the year after 12th grade, to enroll in postsecondary courses and earn college credit at no tuition cost to them or their families. Students should reach out to their counselor to learn more about the opportunity to participate in the ASCENT program.

Special Education
Services are provided in accordance with state and federal law (IDEA) governing the education of children with disabilities. Before any child is eligible to receive services, concerns about the child's educational progress must first be reviewed at a team conference, and a referral must be made for an evaluation. In Salida, the referral process is made as a team and is made as the result of a larger process called MTSS (multi tiered systems of support). Learn more here.
